Los sensores de encendido automático han ganado en los últimos años un gran protagonismo debido a que nos ayudan a gestionar la iluminación de manera más eficiente que con los antiguos interruptores o relojes horarios. Esto se debe a que los sensores gestionan el encendido/apagado de la luz mediante un sensor, encargado de la detección de personas u objetos en movimiento.

Tipos de sensores

Antiguamente eran muy usados los interruptores o relojes horarios, pero con los nuevos sensores ya no es necesario programar el encendido de nuestras bombillas o luminarias, ni tampoco que estén encendidas largos periodos de tiempo, sino el tiempo imprescindible en el cual hay personas en su radio de detección.

En la actualidad ya todos los sensores-detectores están fabricados para su encendido compatible con bombillas-tubos-focos o luminarias LED.

Sensores de movimiento y sensores de presencia

Se tratan de 2 tipos de sensores/detectores que trabajan de diferente forma, sus características son:
Los sensores de presencia son más sensibles que los sensores de movimiento debido a que realizan un barrido constante de la zona en busca de “perturbaciones”, además de realizar una medición constante de la luz.

Funcionamiento de sensores de presencia

Los sensores de movimiento, por otra parte, responden a una “perturbación” cuando este es de una magnitud importante (cuando existe un movimiento importante). Tampoco son capaces de realizar una medición activa de la luz como los sensores de movimiento.

Tipos de sensores de movimiento

En la actual iluminación es común encontrar tres tipos de sensores según su detección:
- Sensores de movimiento pasivo (PIR). Son probablemente y es el sensor más utilizado en el mercado debido a su facilidad de configuración y utilización. Basa su funcionamiento en la detección de variaciones de radiaciones infrarrojas en el entorno en el que está colocado.

La denominación de pasivo es debido a que él no emite radiaciones si no que las recibe. Estos captan la presencia detectando la diferencia entre el calor emitido por el cuerpo humano y el espacio alrededor. La detección es realizada mediante una lente encargada de detectar este tipo perturbaciones. Su componente principal son sensores piroeléctricos diseñados para detectar cambios en la radiación infrarroja recibida que van a su vez encapsulados en una lente de fresnell.

Dentro de este tipo podemos dividirlos en sensores de techo, de pared o empotrables.
Tipos de sensores de movimientos pasivos
- Sensores de movimiento activo por microondas. Basan su funcionamiento en emisión/recepción de microondas independientemente de la temperatura. Si algo interfiere en las ondas, el sensor detectará una variación en el tiempo de retorno, haciendo que la iluminación se active. Este tipo de sensores son más sensibles siendo capaces de atravesar puertas y ventanas delgadas. Esto hace que su capacidad de detección sea mayor que el de los sensores de movimientos pasivos.

Dentro de este tipo podemos dividirlos en sensores de techo, de pared o empotrables.



- Sensores crepusculares. Los sensores crepusculares basan su funcionamiento en la detección del exceso o defecto de iluminación dentro del entorno en el que está instalado (previamente tendremos que haber testeado el sensor para colocar la regulación en el punto donde nos interese). De esta manera podemos programar que la luz se encienda cuando el nivel de iluminación esté por debajo del indicado al sensor.

Sensores de movimiento e iluminación LED

En la actualidad es muy común la instalación de sensores ya sea en pasillos o lugares de paso, garantizándonos que la luz sólo está encendida el tiempo necesario y no malgastamos energía ni recursos. También, es muy común verlos en zonas comunes y aseos, ya que la mayoría de la gente se olvida de apagar la luz una vez ha acabado de pasar u ocupar la zona. De esta manera nos aseguramos de que la luz está encendida el tiempo necesario.


Las últimas tendencias en iluminación apuestan por la instalación de sensores de encendido para las tiras LED en el interior de los perfiles de aluminio en que son alojadas, pudiendo ser:

- En los perfiles o barras de armarios, de manera que cuando se abra este se encienda la luz y nos ayude a ver mejor en el interior de los armarios. Os dejamos un video ilustrativo:


En el interior de cualquier perfil de tira led, de manera que cuando pasamos la mano por el sensor de proximidad, este enciende o apaga la tira LED.

También mediante un sensor de proximidad mini instalado en el interior de un perfil aluminio, para que con la detección de movimiento encienda la tira LED.

Otra opción es instalar tiras LED en la parte de abajo de las camas conectadas a un sensor de movimiento, de manera que cuando te levantas tienes una iluminación presencial que te ayude sin tener que iluminar la fuente de iluminación principal de esta estancia.

Otros productos que también usan sensores ya incorporados al producto LED, serian los plafones LED con detector, estos a su vez también pueden ser plafones con sensor de movimiento, o plafones con sensor de presencia.

También un modelo de Focos-Proyectores LED usan sensores para su encendido, en esta caso son focos LED con detector de movimiento.

Algunos modelos de bombillas LED también incorporan en la misma un sensor de movimiento que activa su encendido, siendo regulable su duración así como que solo se encienda cuando no haya suficiente luz solar.

Tubos de LED que incorporan un sensor de presencia para su encendido total, o son tubos permanentes que están encendidos solo al 25% de intensidad luminosa y cuando detectan la presencia se enciende al 100% de intensidad luminosa mientras detecten este movimiento.

Ventajas de los sensores de encendido

En cuanto a las ventajas de la utilización de los sensores de movimiento, destacamos las siguientes:

Ahorro energético. Al gestionarse la iluminación de manera autónoma, el gasto energético en iluminación será menor, por lo que nuestra factura de la luz también lo será y  si lo combinamos con iluminación del tipo LED el ahorro será mucho más considerable.

Ahorro en la duración de nuestras luminarias. Con este tipo de sensores nos olvidamos por completo de apagar la luz y de los pequeños descuidos que tenemos todos a diario, con lo cual alargamos la vida de nuestras bombillas o luminarias.

Aportan seguridad. Se pueden utilizar como sensor de alarma ya que si tenemos instalados sensores en el perímetro de nuestro hogar y se enciende la luz, existe la posibilidad de que haya un intruso. Además, el encendido de la luz sirve de método disuasorio.


Ventajas de seguridad de los sensores de iluminación
Aportan comodidad. Instalados en ciertos lugares la luz se enciende forma automática nada mas ocupar el perímetro que cubren, facilitando el acceso y evitando el encendido manual de las luminarias.
